Building and Operating IT Systems Challenges

Building and Operating IT Systems Challenges Data the board can be portrayed as the assortment and the board of data from single or numerous sources and the dispersal of that data to at least one audience members. Frequently this includes individuals the individuals who have a stake in, or a privilege to that particular data. The board includes the association of and power over the structure, handling and conveyance of data. The focal point of this paper will be on recognizing a conduct and a specialized way to deal with data frameworks, distinguishing key administration challenges associated with building, working, and keeping up data frameworks today, and depicting the capacities of a computerized firm. Moreover, I will depict three sorts of data frameworks and clarifying the four key undertaking applications for association wide procedure coordination. Conduct and Technical Approach A few perspectives on data frameworks show that the investigation of data frameworks is a field with various orders and in this way, no single hypothesis or point of view administers. As a rule, the field can be isolated into conduct and specialized methodologies. The conduct approach can be separated much further into sub-classes to incorporate financial aspects, brain research, and human science. The specialized methodology can likewise be separated into sub-classes to incorporate administration science, software engineering, and tasks research. Social Approach A significant component of the data frameworks field is engaged with conduct gives that surface in the turn of events and conservation of data frameworks. Issues like vital business structure, execution and use, and the board can't be completely investigated with the models utilizing a specialized methodology. Conduct trains, for example, financial aspects, brain research, and human science can likewise contribute imperative ideas and procedures. For instance, financial specialists study data frameworks chiefly intrigued by what sway frameworks have on cost structures inside the business and inside its specific market. Then again, Psychologists are keen on how human chiefs appreciate and use data. At long last, sociologists study data frameworks searching for how gatherings and associations structure the advancement of frameworks and furthermore how these various frameworks influence people, gatherings, and associations (Information Management, 2010). The social methodology doesn't totally overlook innovation. Indeed, data frameworks innovation is as often as possible the explanation behind a particular social issue or issue. Yet, for the most part the core of this methodology isn't typically designed for specialized arrangements. Rather it focuses on change in mentalities, the board and authoritative arrangement, and conduct. Specialized Approach The specialized way to deal with data frameworks puts accentuation on numerically based models to consider data frameworks, notwithstanding the physical information and capacities of these frameworks. The controls that assume a job in the specialized methodology are software engineering, the executives science, and tasks research. Software engineering has to do with making hypotheses of calculability, methods for calculation, and ways to deal with powerful access and capacity of information. The board science features the development of models for dynamic and the board techniques. Ultimately, activities research manages numerical techniques for streamlining business issues, for example, stock control, transportation, and exchange costs (Information Management, 2010). Key Management Challenges Building, working, and keeping up data frameworks in todays quick paced business world can be testing. These key administration challenges depend on a large number of issues, for example, data framework speculations, key business choices, globalization, data innovation foundation, and morals and security. Data System Investment Challenge Whenever oversaw keenly, interests in data frameworks can improve workers lives and a businesss generally execution. For example, in the course of recent years the Internet has created structure a specialized advancement to an individual and business need. Some businesss have perceived significant enhancements in handling data by changing from centralized server registering to PCs associated by neighborhood (LAN). The capacity of programming applications to recognize and connect relevant information in an information distribution center permits organizations to reveal unidentified budgetary or physical asset connections and in this way make accessible reasonable help where there had been none. In any case, alongside the capacity to improve lives and associations, some data framework ventures can get unsafe, expensive, inefficient errors. To beat these difficulties, senior administration faculty should have the option to effectively assess these ventures to guarantee the right rate of profitability (ROI) (Laudon, 2006). Vital Business Challenge You can get any administration book and you can find out about the criticalness of building up a vital arrangement, and thoughts regarding how to both create and actualize your arrangement. Then again, you will likewise discover articles that you suggest that key arranging doesn't work since it is difficult to build up a drawn out arrangement in this regularly changing business condition. As I would see it, reality lies some place in the middle. Key arranging can assist you with getting readied on what you have to achieve throughout the following years, what things you should achieve those objectives, and precisely how to approach achieving your objectives. The difficulty is that the advantages of key arranging can be handily lost. These plans flop essentially as a result of what occurs after the procedure of key arranging. As a rule, an incredible exertion goes into making and building up a key arrangement, which is then immediately set aside and overlooked, even by the individuals that made it. The objective of vital arranging lies in the advancement of the arrangement, yet in addition in its usage. Executing the vital arrangement will possibly work in the event that you are clear about what this arrangement can bring to you and the association. The vital arrangement needs to have esteem, not exclusively to the association, yet in addition to the representatives. Most importantly the arrangement should be utilized by everyone. A key arrangement should be utilized as a dynamic apparatus from the highest point of the association right to the base. CEOs should have the option to utilize it to settle on choices on the course of their business, mergers, or staffing. Supervisors ought to likewise have the option to utilize it to settle on choices for the needs of their areas of expertise objectives and targets, and to adjust crafted by their specialty to the general objectives of association. In conclusion, each representative must have the option to utilize the arrangement to perceive their own objectives, and where they fit in large plan of things. At the point when executed accurately, a key arrangement assists with adding significance and center to each person, however the association all in all (Information Systems, 2010). Globalization Challenge The globalization of data innovation warrants uncommon consideration by business administrators, government authorities and academic scientists for a huge number of reasons. To begin with, is that data innovation and frameworks are high-innovation enterprises of extensive size and with critical potential for invigorating financial development and occupations. The quick development in worldwide exchange and the surfacing of a universal economy require data frameworks that can support both the creation and selling of products and enterprises in a wide range of nations. Second, access to the most exceptional PC and broadcast communications innovation is integral to serious accomplishment in almost all ventures. Government strategies which purposely or accidentally hinder mechanical advancement in the creation and utilization of PCs, data frameworks and broadcast communications have significant financial impacts. Third, given language boundaries, social, and political contrasts among div ergent nations, this concentrate regularly brought about disarray and the breakdown of focal administration controls (Laudon, 2006). To defeat these difficulties, it is basic for association to create worldwide equipment, programming, and data frameworks principles. Moreover, associations must have the option to make worldwide bookkeeping and announcing strategies and plan overall business forms. Data Technology Infrastructure Challenge This specific test for organizations manages how associations can create data innovation frameworks that can continue their objectives when business circumstances are changing at a fast pace. Maturing framework is clearly a colossal issue in numerous enterprises that just gets greater over the long haul. Some hardware may have had outside overhauls or facelifts, however much of the time, it is more than 70 years of age. Numerous associations are left with costly and unmanageable IT stages that can't promptly adjust to advancement and change. Also, a serious business condition and the weights of the worldwide budgetary circumstance weigh progressively on organizations minds (Information Systems, 2010). To fight this test, a few associations might be required to update its association and build up another data innovation framework to make due in this serious business world. Morals and Security Challenge Associations should consistently be discerning that their data frameworks are utilized in both a morally and socially capable way. In spite of the fact that data frameworks have given numerous advantages, they have likewise made new moral and security gives that must be tended to. Each improvement in data innovation can be connected to in any event one moral quandary. From Facebook to requesting stock on the web, PC clients are oblivious of the fragile

Media Analysis - Free Essay Example

Abstract The essay will look at the various main characters and their outstanding contribution to the content of the play The Enemy Of The People. In the first paragraph being the brief content of the play and the main theme which drives the play to the end and an outline of the main characters. The body will include the contribution of the various characters to the production content of the play, how the play will frame discussion of an issue (either by repeating various story elements, by using common metaphors and others), how the main characters are being quoted and their role in the society(are they mainly advocates, policy makers, academic experts and others), how often the main characters are quoted and in what context, how the play tend to tell develop a certain theme while ignoring another. From this findings , the essay will draw a conclusion. MEDIA ANALYSIS The primary issue in the play An Enemy Of The People is the misuse of power in order to maintain the status quo of the town to benefit the rich minority while hurting the easily duped majority. Dr Stockmans findings that Morten Kiils tannery is contaminating the towns springs is valid. But it is not received well by the mayor of the town who argues that when the proper measures to correct the problem are undertaken, the town will turn bankrupt, the mayor goes ahead to mislead the ailing majority that by ignoring the issue of health status and opting to tackle the issue of the springs promising a great future for everyone. The main characters in this play are Dr stockman the resident physician of a coastal Norweigan town. Enjoying financial success for the first time in his life, Stockmann is an energized, driven man, married, with three children and a close-knit circle of friends. After discovering that the town’s waters are contaminated and causing illness amongst the patient s and the local residents, he contacts the mayor to inform him of the necessity of gutting the town’s plumbing and re-laying the pipes in a more sanitary way. He is confident the mayor will respond quickly to his suggestions and he will be viewed as a hero by his neighbors. Peter stockman is the mayor of the town and a brother to Doctor Stockmann, the mayor, however, balks at Thomas’ suggestion of changing the town’s plumbing, which would halt the visitors to the springs and leave the town destitute. Confident the matter will â€Å"resolve itself† quickly, he informs Thomas that if he publicizes his findings about the water, he will lose his job (Ibsen,2016). Analyzing Elements In A Production Truth Versus Moral Degradation Dr Stockmann is used in this play to represent what is true and just for the town. He realizes that the springs are contaminated by the tannery above, the laboratory results are positive. He is used to drive the theme of justice by fighting for the majority. He does not hesitate to inform the concerned authorities of the measures to take in order to save the town in the long run. He vows to report on the findings to the public to warn them of using water from the springs. Peter Stockman is a representation of moral degradation. He assumes that the contaminated springs will correct themselves and that the public need not be informed of the contamination. This is a similar scenario to the media analysis entitled Between A Rock and a Hard Place An Analysis of Low Wage Workers it was a crucial first step in building a communications strategy to enhance the visibility of low-wage workers and the obstacles they face in pursuing the so called â€Å"American dream.† Based on the findings of the media analysis, the suggested strategy for advocates was to reframe their messages to portray low-wage workers as important contributors to the economy, rather than as sympathetic victims. (Wingate,2016). Peter stockmann does not think that the public are an important stakeholders who have the right to know the status of their town. Fight between the civilised minority and the government Dr Stockmann is used to represent the civilised majority who are well versed with their rights and who know the right decision to carry out in the midst of a crisis. He is completely contrasted with the other members of the town who seem not to understand what really is happening and that there is a life threatening issue that they seem to ignore because of lack of   information and being mislead by politicians like Peter Stockmann. The end of this play shows how the politicians use their power to turn the public against the achievement of a highly civilized individuals and cause lack of development in the nations (Brodow,2016) Conclusion From this we can draw conclusions that the society (comprised of the government, the public and the minority group of civlised citizens) should work in harmony with each other in order to bring out the best from the environment and lead to a win- win situation for all parties.

Most historians agree that the Tet Offensive was the turning point in the Vietnam War as events shifted the role of United States involvement in Southeast Asia as the shock it produced was the catalyst that led to the reevaluation of U.S. policy. While intelligence failure contributed to the shift in the Vietnam War, most historians have disagreed on the role of the media in aiding the American public’s views against the war. The Tet Offensive Intelligence Failure in War, written in 1991, James J. However, the communists had not for seen the reaction it would have especially how it would lead to the failure of U.S. policies in South Vietnam. Indeed, Tet had essential positive effects for Hanoi as it revealed that the immense U.S. military presence had not been able to stop the North Vietnamese Army infiltration into the South. Biotechnology Essay Example For Students

Biotechnology Essay Over the past decade, Biotechnology Essay has advanced much to the advantage of many people. We have learned that with certain chemicals, we are able to cut-and-paste the DNA of certain organisms, and alter them to comply to our sociable needs. But this can also affect modern medicine, political factors, economic, and societal balances in our nation. For medicine, Biotechnology has been a blessing, healing people who suffer from a sex-linked trait known as Hemophilia. Hemophilia is a condition where the person may die of blood loss when cut or wounded. This is caused by a lack of a certain chemical known as Factor 9, which allows the patient to heal from wounds. Scientists may now insert a gene into the patients own DNA causing the patient to heal skin, which has been impossible until now, with Genetic-Engineering. I doubt that there have been any real disadvantages with this technology, since it works to heal the patient, but we really cant predict what kind of medical misfits there will be in the future, using this life-saving technology to their own personal, perhaps evil, advantages. Dealing with politics, Bioengineering has opened a whole new door pertaining to the military, whose use of it may create an ultimate destruction. The alterance of nature is un-natural, and creates an unbalancement in life. When we use this technology towards the wrong side, we may all be burned. You see, Biotechnology has the ability to altar what diseases we humans are susceptible to, and when scientists create something to eliminate immunities to diseases, it may result in a mass destruction of the evolved living being known as the human. This may sound tragic, but this is what Biotechnology is all about; changing genes so that they may fit our societal and economic needs. The government has probably taken this germ-warfare in to consideration, and is leading to an unhappy resolution. In this case, Biotechnology has no advantages. Socially, Biotechnology is a breakthrough in science. Our new techniques of giving nature a hand, in this case, will pave the road of the genetic highway to come in the future. We are now able to create the perfect tomato, the largest, reddest apples, and the plumpest grapes. We can score more milk by the cow, and create new chemicals to heal people. This is a society where we need not worry about a plague affecting our fruits and vegetation, nor our dairy and meat products. When we do not need to worry about certain factors like a draught or massive rain, we have a sociable balance between us and nature. Scientists have used biotechnology to an advantage here, and it seems applaudable. Yet, disadvantages may include harmful new substances in the plants being compounded together that may cause an allergic reaction to people. This is rare, and we shouldnt really worry about it, but we should be open-minded and consider these things. When it comes to the economy, people are most in desire for foods which are worth the money they spend on. Since we can now create the ultimate fruit, we should be able to produce them more quickly. And since consumers want more, we will then gain much capitol, creating a fine economic balance. For example, we are not making enough money because our cows cannot produce enough milk. Scientist and genetic engineers can now insert a gene which lets them make not only more milk, but the type of milk they want created. Now, we are wasting less to create more of something, and indeed has shown to increase economical factors extensively. Even though we have accomplished this in modern society, we are still young in the genetic age of science. We have yet to unleash the complete possibilities of biotechnology, like the creation of whole organisms, fully functional and self-sufficient. We have successfully generated an entire plant from a leaf, but compared to that, us humans are far more complicated and sophisticated. I myself stand that biotechnology can be used to our advantage, but I sternly warn you as Albert Einstein warned President Roosevelt about his discoveries of nuclear energy, that biotechnology can be a devastating new weapon, used to destroy human kind. I believe that the technology will flourish into the society as the computer has, having your own genetic lab at home so that you may cure yourself of a disease. Lending a Helping Hand Essay But biotechnology is more than that, being that it will pave the future technological highway; perhaps instead of robots, we will have cloned entire human beings to work for us. There are endless possibilities, and we must take caution in them. .

Pythagorean Theorem Essays (1173 words) - Triangles,

Pythagorean Theorem pythagorean theorm The Pythagorean Theorem is a geometrical expression used often in math and physics. It used to 2 2 2 find the unknown side of a right triangle. The exponential form of this theorem a + b = c . That is the equation you use when you are looking for the unknown side of a right triangle, and it is what I'll demonstrate on the attached exhibit. The upside down capital L in the bottom of the left hand corner indicates that sides A & B are the legs of the triangle. Since we know side A = 5 inches and B = 3 inches we may fill that in to 2 2 2 or equation for step one. (1) 5 + 3 = c What the theorem will help us find is the c side of this triangle. 2. 25 + 9 = c All we do is distribute 5 to the second power and 3 to the second power as seen is step two. Next, we add these two numbers together to get 34, 25+9=34, in step three. 3. 25+9=34 Then, in step four we find the square root of 34. 4. 34 In step five we see that 5.83 is the unknown side of the right triangle. 5. c= 5.83 We found this ans wer by using the Pythagorean Theorem as taught in geometrical form. This theorem may also be summed up by saying that the area of the square on the hypotenuse, or opposite side of the right angle, of a right triangle is equal to sum of the areas of the squared on the legs. The Pythagorean Theorem was a studied by many people and groups. One of those people being Euclid. Sometimes the Pythagorean Theorem is also referred to as the 47th Problem of Euclid. It is called this because it is included by Euclid in a book of numbered geometric problems. In the problem Euclid studied he would always use 3, 4, and 5 as the sides of the right triangle. He did this because 5 x 5 = 3 x 3 + 4 x 4. The angle opposite the side of the legs was the right angle, it had a length of 5. The 3:4:5 in the right triangle was known as a Pythagorean triple or a three digits that could be put in a right triangle successfully. These three numbers were also whole numbers and were used in the Egyptian string trick , which I will talk about later. This Pythagorean triple, 3:4:5, are the smallest integer series to have been formed, and the only consecutive numbers in that group that is important. These numbers can be, and often were, studied from a philosophical stand point. The symbolic meanings of the 3:4:5 triple told by modern writers such as Manly P. Hall say 3 stands for spirit, 4 stands for matter, and 5 stands for man. Using Hall's study the symbolism of this arrangement is as follows: ?Matter? (4) lays upon the plane of Earth and ?Spirit? (3) reaches up to the Heaven and they are connected by ?Man? (5) who takes in both qualities. A process similar to that of Euclid's 47th Problem was the Egyptian string trick. Egyptians were said to have invented the word geometry (geo = earth, metry = measuring.) The Egyptians used the 3:4:5 right triangle to create right triangles when measuring there fields after the Nile floods washed out there old boundary markers. The Egyptians used the same the ory of Euclid, 5 x 5 = 3 x 3 + 4 x 4, to get there boundaries marked correctly. Although Euclid and the Ancient Egyptians studied the theorem, the true inventor of it ( or the person most people believed invented it first ) was Pythagoras of Samos and his group the Pythagoreans. Pythagoras was a man born in 580 B.C. on the island of Samos, in the Aegean Sea. It is said Pythagoras was a man that spent his life traveling the world in search of wisdom. This search for wisdom led him to settle in Corona, a Greek colony in southern Italy, in about 530 B.C. Here Pythagoras gained famous status for his group

Dickens offers a wide range of characters from the upper class factory owner to the lowest class factory workers. He creates characters in this range of social classes and crafts this story that intertwines each person and their transformations throughout the novel. Almost every character in this story is complex and has characteristics that run deeper than their place in society, and this is what makes the novel so very important and intense. While there are many complexities linked to these characters, some do not appear to be as complex but in actuality they are. A strong example would be Josiah Bounderby, the wealthiest character in the novel. Mr. Bounderby is a factory and bank owner in Coketown, the industrial town in which the novel is set. He claims that he came from nothing to riches and has no problem exclaiming the trials and hard times that he went through to get to where he is now. While the people who hear these stories have no reason to doubt Mr. Bounderby, they later learn that he was actually making up all of these stories of his grueling childhood and upbringing. This is very significant because if the comparison is made between Bounderby and the industrial revolution, there are many aspects that are in fact very comparable. It seems that Bounderby almost wants to be symbolic of the industrial revolution and attempts to model his life after how the industrial revolution came to be. For example, Bounderby seems to want others to think that he came from nothing, as did the industrial revolution. The revolution came after a time when technological ways of life were not considered to ever dominate society the way they eventually did. Bounderby see...

Leadership Profile PART II Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Leadership Profile PART II - Essay Example All sorts of leaders, be it a political leader, group/team leader (for a project), leader in any field or discipline(s) and any n' every leader; they, despite being unique by several of their attributes, they have a few similarities (Gareth & Charles, 2005). They show some of the similar patterns which can be integrated into a few categories or types of leadership styles as per the leadership theories given by renowned observers and theorists. These include several theories which have provided exceptional guidance to assist people over the whole globe and to help out leaders in leading their subordinates effectively as per the prevailing conditions and situation of an organization. Some of those world renowned theories are discussed briefly below. It will be pertinent to note here that we have already looker at the reasons and chosen the transformational leadership style to explain the behaviour of our chosen leader namely Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra. Fred Fiedler was the one who developed a contingency or situational theory of leadership. Leadership theories may be of great help in molding the behaviors of leaders but they also need to be effective enough to assist leaders in different situations. Now that many theories are there, a lot of researchers have agreed on the point that actually no "one" style of leadership is always right for every person, who is a leader. Therefore, for different conditions and circumstances, these conditional theories were developed to be applicable in different cases with respect to the task at hand, the type of organization and the people involved (G. Northouse, 2006). In this theory, the developer i.e. Fiedler emphasized on three main things that were the structure of the task, the relationship between the leaders and the subordinates, and the power that the leader has and is entitled to exercise on his own discretion. Transformational Leadership: James MacGregor Burns wrote in his book 'Leadership' about the concept of "transforming leadership" (G. Northouse, 2006). According to him, transformational leadership actually takes place when a leader changes his subordinates or followers in three important styles. He inculcates a feeling of cumulative and/or shared gains in the employees i.e. to work not only for their selves only but also fro the sake of the organization's benefit. This results in the subordinates having more trust in their leader, performing at higher levels of productivity and effectively contributes to the achievement of the organizational goal and objectives that are the target for any organization. (Bernard M. Bass, 2005) Path-Goal Theory of Leadership: This theory emphasizes on the leaders to motivate their employees by clearly stating them the means of achieving high. This includes guiding them as to how they should achieve the organizational goals, controlling their performance and monitoring their output results, lauding them for good work and respecting what they did and then further guiding them how to improve on the mistakes that were made and also how to achieve new and higher benchmarks. Leader-Style Theory: Leader style, also known as "Trait Theory" is another way of identifying and analyzing the key characteristics of a successful leader. This approached was used for actually separating the critical leadership traits of born-leaders so that

_________________ Millennials Say Marriage Ideal but Parenthood the Essay

_________________ Millennials Say Marriage Ideal but Parenthood the Priority, written by Jason Hanna and published on the CNN - Essay Example The article ends by stating that the changing environment, meaning economic, has also helped to change the current culture with respect to how marriage is viewed among Millenials as well as others. While completing an education is a high priority still, finding a good job and establishing oneself has also become almost a requirement prior to considering marriage or child bearing. Essay: Although the above article has very good points and key insights into the generation known as the Millenials, it is however somewhat deceiving as to the true trends that are being represented. Furthermore, when articles such as the one above are published it is always necessary to consider by whom, when, why, and to what end. In this way, this brief response essay will help to consider but a few of these as well as to provide some key reading insights that this author gained from analyzing the above article. Firstly, a common trend in journalism is to create stories where none would otherwise exist. I t is a well known fact that in order to sell journalism must convince the readership/viewership that ideas, cultures, and individuals are changing. Imagine a world in which a newspaper or a television news program reported that absolutely nothing new or interesting was taking place. Of course the idea seems ludicrous. Similarly, one of the primary mechanisms which the media uses to engage the attention of the viewership/readership is to convince them that a fundamental shift is taking place at each and every moment of the day. The above article is not dissimilar to such a tactic in that it has all of the tell tale makers of sensationalist journalism. Firstly, one group is compared to another. Secondly a level of statistical analysis is used. Thirdly, it is determined that based upon the statistical analysis, it is indeed measurable that the current generation does not value traditional morality to the same extent that the previous one did. Although there may be a grain of truth to s ome of the information that the study and proceeding article related, the fact of the matter is that it follows all too similar a pattern with reference to attempting to sell advertising space by playing off the emotions of a concerning citizenry. An additional point of interest is the fact that the article opens by citing â€Å"a new study† and then goes on for some length before admitting that the PEW Research Center was indeed the group that put out such a study. This is not important to the average reader. However, the fact of the matter is that centers such as the PEW Research Center are able to make the lion’s share of their profits by churning out untenable study after untenable study. Most of these are sold to political think tanks and picked up by the media. Accordingly, for each political point of view or journalist, there is a corresponding statistic that can work to tell one particular side of the story. Yet a further flaw of logic and scholarship is refere nced in the fact that the journalist refers to the fact that Gen-X placed a higher emphasis on marriage than did the Millenials based on a similar survey (Hanna 1). One would expect that the survey would have been conducted at the very least by the same group (the PEW

Monterey, Ca Essay Example for Free

Monterey, Ca Essay Whenever I tell someone that I am from California I am automatically asked about palm trees, the sun, hot weather, tanning, the beach, richness, etc. However, it’s not like that for me, I’m not from San Diego or Santa Clara, I’m from a small town in Central California with a population of about thirty thousand people, Monterey and it is a popular tourist attraction. The weather is about the same year round, between 60-70 degrees. It is rare the day we get up to 90 to 95 degrees. On those days it is as if I did life in San Diego. When we get out of school, everyone goes to the beach. We spend hours there, girls mainly tanning while the boys skim board, surf, swim, or play beach volleyball. At night we’ll set up a bonfire. We don’t do this only on the hot days, it does not matter what day of the season it is well set up bonfires all the time. It was a great thing to do at night, laying by the fire, drinking, smoking, eating, making smores, etc. Monterey is mainly known for its marine life. It has one of the biggest aquariums in North America. Monterey Bay Aquarium gives many scientists access to different marine life for research. It just opened a new Jellyfish exhibit and a year or so ago remodeled the Open Sea. The aquarium has two main parts, the open sea and the ocean’s edge. In the open sea you can see the Puffins, the Jellies Experience, The Secret Lives of Seahorses, and an Auditorium. Where as in the Ocean’s Edge part of the aquarium you can see the Kelp Forest, the Habitats, Penguins, and even the Touch Pools. There is no student in the Monterey County who has not been to this aquarium, I know this for a fact because every first grader goes to the aquarium as a field trip. The teacher gives each student a clipboard with a worksheet on it. Then he class is broken up in to groups and each has a chaperone and an aquarium guide. As everyone walks around, the students must fill out the work sheet. Every student covers every inch of the aquarium, from the otters to the roof, and even to the lab rooms. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is located at the end of Cannery Row. Cannery Row was named after the novel by John Steinbeck that took place there. In high school, we were obligated to read John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row in order to get an idea of how it was in his time. There, I can promise you that you will be trampled by tourists. There are tourist everywhere, because Cannery Row is literally right next to the beach is has a very strong smell of fish and sea water, combined. On the both sides of the street you will see restaurants after restaurants, like Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, El Torito, Fish Hopper, Johnny Rocket’s, and Sly McFly’s. There are also many souvenir shops and a Starbucks and a Dip-n-Dots, and also a few clubs and bars. One street up from Cannery Row, a block away from the aquarium, is the American Tin Cannery. Years and years ago it used to be a world wide famous sardine factory which ending because the sardines disappeared tragically. Now, it is an outlet store and it has a couple of restaurants, my favorite bei ng First Awakenings. It is a breakfast, lunch diner, I used to go every Mondays before school with my family for breakfast. Walking past Cannery Row is a bike path, which has always been on of my favorite things to do. The bike path goes on for a couple of miles, a few feet from the edge of the ocean and on the other side are magnificent houses, hotels, the lighthouse, and a small golf course. It eventually leads into Pacific Grove and then Asilomar Beach, the dog beach. This is where most high school students go for their Winterball or Prom pictures. If I were to walk the opposite way of the path I would be going back to Cannery Row, passing Cannery Row I would end up at San Carlos Beach. San Carlos Beach is nothing big, a very small, private beach. I hardly ever see anyone there. Back on the bike path, passing San Carlos Beach I am heading toward the Old Fisherman’s Wharf, another very touristic destination. This Wharf has three major owners, one owns the front part, the other owns Old Fisherman’s Grotto, and the third owns most of the other shops, and restaurants at the end of the wharf. I worked at Gilbert’s on the wharf on summer and part of the school year. I was the ‘clam chowder girl’. That summer I just stood there, serving chowder to all these tourists from all over the world; Italy, France, Mexico, Spain, the Middle East, etc. I would get in trouble every now and then if I would socialize with them. At the end of the wharf there is always either a man or a women who draws caricatures and on the bottom adds a whale, ocean or the wharf. The reason why he or she does a whale is because right next to the booth is another booth for whale watching. I did it once and I did not see whales but others have said they have seen them. One the other side of the Old Fisherman’s Wharf is another wharf. That wharf consists mostly of parked cars, a couple of small restaurants and a fish market at the end. At the fish market they sell fresh fish. They will go fishing and keep the fish alive, one a customer comes in and orders whatever they please, the fishermen will kill the fish right in front of you so you know that it is fresh. Every now and then I see a big ship on the dock. In-between these two wharfs is filled with sail boats, yhats, house boats, fishing boats, etc. Walking on the bike path next to this part of the dock, if I were to look down to the ocean, you can see otters, hundreds of otters, crying, sleeping or just playing around. Across from Old Fisherman’s Wharf is a path that leading into Downtown Monterey. Alvarado Street is at the heart of Downtown and it’s one the places teens and adults are seen at a lot. There are approximately seven to ten clubs and bars on this street, so its hardly ever empty. About two years ago we got a Myo there. Myo is equivalent to a Pink Berry, only better in my opinion. You’re able to get your own serving but keep in mind that you’re being charged 65 cents per ounce. I believe it is owned by two Monterey firefighters. On Tuesdays, the city closes the street to vehicles because there is a Farmer’s Market. There are food stands, fruit/vegatable stands, handmade jewelry sellers, CHOMP blood drive, to clothing vendors. A street up from Alvarado is the Monterey Police Station, Monterey Fire Department, and the Public Library. A few streets down from Alvarado is the first church built in California, San Carlos Church, formally known as San Carlos Cathedral. Next door to the church is a private Catholic school, San Carlos School. I attended this school for elementary and middle school. It is a very small school, one class for each grade. We had a uniform, therefore, the elementary girls had to wear plaid dresses with a white or navy blue polo and the boys had to wear navy blue pants and a polo. The middle school girls couldnt wear the dresses anymore so we had to wear plaid skirts with the polos and the boys had the same uniform as the younger boys. My graduating class only had 20 kids because we were such a small school, our class was very close and most of us went to the same high school after. Monterey has four high school, Santa Catalina, York, Trinity, and Monterey high school. The Del Monte Shopping Center is where students mainly hang out because of the restaurants, stores and the movie theater. Century 21, is the only movie theater in Monterey. The mall is not very big but it has the main things people go to buy like, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, HM, Forever 21, Victoria Secret, Cold Stone, etc. The crime violence is very high in the city’s around Monterey but in Monterey itself is not to bad. We don’t hear about shooting or murders. However, it has been getting high in the cities around Monterey, and it worries some of the residents. It was disappointing to learn that crime violence in now creeping into Monterey. One thing that keeps the residence calm is that the Monterey Police Department do not rest with crime and they do, do something about it, immediately. In Seaside, and or Salinas it is a harder for them get the criminal. Monterey has and always will be my home. I grew up there, I lived there, I love it there, it is a place where I can feel at ease. It makes others feel at home. I have been told, and heard that tourists, celebrities, and residents all think that this is on of the prettiest places in California and of the world. It makes me feel proud to be part of the Monterey community, to be a part of something that others wished they could be a part. I recommend that everyone should see Monterey, at least once in their lifetime.

Searching For Meaning in Apocalypse Now Essay examples -- Movie Film c

Searching For Meaning in Apocalypse Now Francis Ford Coppola's film Apocalypse Now takes the audience into a tense and mystical journey through the Vietnam War. This long and agonizing journey is seen through the eyes of Captain Willard played by Martin Sheen. Sheen. Captain Willard is assigned to a mission that relies on him to assassinate Colonel Kurtz, who is played by Marlon Brando. Although Apocalypse Now is an examination of the many terrors of society that are connected to the Vietnam War, Coppola plays much of his film off Joseph Conrad's novel The Heart of Darkness. Conrad's story focuses on Captain Marlow who is parallel to Willard and the Colonel Kurtz possesses many of the same characteristics in both works. In both works, the Captain is to find the Colonel, but Coppola makes a very significant change in his film. This significant change is the transition of Captain Marlow assigned to find Colonel Kurtz in the Congo, to Captain Willard assigned to assassinate Colonel Kurtz in Cambodia. The fact that Willard has now become an assassin of Kurtz is very important in Coppola's over all point. It especially is important for the last ten minutes of the movie when Willard actually kills Kurtz. The final scenes of the film consist of Kurtz' reading of the poem "The Hollow Men" and the interplay of Willard killing Kurtz while the Cambodian Natives kill a water buffalo in a ritualistic setting. These changes and departures of the ending of Heart of Darkness are made so Coppola can make his point about the Vietnam War and society. The point being that the Vietnam War was completely meaningless and a lost cause among several others. However, as will be shown, these points come in conflict with eachother and are difficult to ... ... of the movie is. Apocalypse Now is definitely a movie fit for an audience who wishes to be stimulated with thought overload. The movie is filled with all kinds of metaphors to the Vietnam War and parallels to Heart of Darkness. Coppola makes alterations to Heart of Darkness to achieve his own personal point that is very different from Conrad's, but his point is still not completely clear. Coppola's opposition to the war is obvious but he throws in a lot of other elements to try to add even more onto that. Coppola uses Kurtz to examine the importance of not judging, "The Hollowness of Men", and the Christlike figure of Kurtz himself. All of these are great ideas, but the ideas are just scattered throughout the movie and show no cohesiveness. However, one can still appreciate Coppola's thought-provoking ideas without completely understanding what they all mean.

Potentially Unethical

What is potentially unethical about the situation described in the Daryl scenario is the choice of not informing my superior of the shenanigans my peer, Daryl, is committing. That, basically, is the theft of company time, company equipment and company staff for his own personal benefit. The very fact that I would be fully aware of his deliberate underhanded actions, and that I would continue to be silent about it, I think, would make me almost as culpable as him. Close to a co-conspirator, but not quite.Although, I would not be actually participating in this disreputable manner, I would by virtue of not saying anything would make me, at the very least, tacitly giving approval. And, if my boss were to find out in the future for some reason or other that I was fully aware and said nothing, it would not be unfair to say an outright dismissal might be appropriate in the eyes of my employer. At the very least, I would appear to be a not too trustworthy or dependable employee. To know somet hing and not say something because perhaps one did not wish to, but into anyone else’s business is one thing. But to not say something for self serving reasons is another. If I were to keep my mouth shut so that I may do the same thing as Daryl i. e. use company property, use company time and use company personnel for reasons that have nothing to do with the company, is to use an unprofessional word: scandalous. This kind of behavior is outright theft. True, one may feel a bit like a tattletale if one were to choose to inform their higher-uppers. But so what? Better to be that than to be the kind of employee no employer desires to have. And besides that, it would all be Daryl’s fault if he did get busted. After all, he would be the one committing this devious behavior. That does not seem like the kind of person that has any company loyalty.
